*To be counted as attaining an A* to C grade in English, a pupil must achieve an A* to C grade in GCSE English, or enter both English Language and English Literature GCSEs, achieving an A* to C grade in English Language and an A* to G grade or U in English Literature.
Results presented the above table have been analysed according to 2013 UK Department for Education methodology, ie pre methodological reforms.
Other methodologies are however available.
It should be noted that it is extremely difficult to compare the performance of Jersey schools on an attainment measure such as ‘the percentage of pupils attaining 5+ A* to C grades in GCSE or equivalent qualifications’.
This is because the makeup of each of Jersey school is very different in terms of pupils’ prior academic ability, first languages spoken, range of special educational needs, etc.
A fairer comparative measure is the proportion of pupils in each school making the expected amount of progress across Key Stage 3 and 4 or Best 8 Value Added (another measure of pupil progress).

The value added score for GCSE in each of the State secondary schools for the academic year 2014 / 2015 is accessible by other means and is therefore exempt under Article 23 of the Freedom of Information law.
