Bed occupancy on Sorel Ward 19 December 2023 (FOI)

Please advise how many beds were respectively occupied by both private and public patients on Sorel Ward at the General Hospital on 19 December 2023. 

Response

There are a total of fourteen beds on Sorel Ward, with an additional two neutropenic rooms that are not for elective activity (planned surgery). On 19 December 2023, four beds were occupied by private patients and the remainder were occupied by public patients, giving a full ward of elective patients. 

There were several discharges on this day, and a total of nineteen patients were in the ward across the time period, despite there being a total allocation of fourteen beds. A neutropenic room was utilised for a short period of time to facilitate this.​
