Please confirm the uptake for the cervical cancer screening programme each year for the past five years?

Please also confirm how many of the appointments each year were first-time appointments?

Response

As noted in previous Freedom of Information responses, cervical screening in Jersey is provided through Health and Community Services (HCS) and by GP practices. GP practices are private businesses and, as such, the data for their activity is not held by HCS. As HCS do not have a central record of all activity for the island, Article 3 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 applies.

Figures for cervical screening tests received into HCS’ Cellular Pathology Department have previously been published to www.gov.je:

Information on cervical screening coverage is planned for inclusion in the upcoming Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA), anticipated for publication at the end of Quarter 2 / early Quarter 3 of 2024. Further information on the JSNA can be found on www.gov.je at the following link:
