Response
A
A total of £45,971.35 has been spent on diversity and inclusion training across the Government of Jersey during the period 2020 to 2024.
It is not possible to provide an accurate cost of training commissioned by individual departments as the detail of bespoke department training is not recorded in a way which identifies spend on a specific type of training. Article 3 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 applies.
B
Details across the Government of Jersey are as follows:
- Internal training provider - 59 training sessions with a total of 208 hours of training
- External training provider - 68 sessions with a total of 498 hours (this is only an approximate figure as some departments do not hold this data in a recordable format)
- A total of 127 training sessions delivered in 706 hours.
In addition, all new starters complete a 20 minute online introduction to diversity and inclusion as part of their induction programme.
It is not possible to provide an accurate break down of who, in which department, attended the training due to limitations within the learning management system. As this information is not recorded in a reportable format, Article 3 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 applies.

Two departments across the Government of Jersey have specific roles for diversity and inclusion as follows:
Customer & Local Services: three roles
The Customer and Local Services roles were recruited to support the delivery of the Disability and Inclusion strategy, to help improve the wellbeing of Islanders with disabilities and challenge inequalities faced by disabled people.
Cabinet Office: People Services: one role
People Services has corporate responsibility for diversity, equity and inclusion across the public service.
There are some roles within Children, Young People, Education and Skills (‘CYPES’) which are involved in inclusion, and these are exclusively provided to support children and their families and are focussed on improving outcomes for children and young people with additional needs.
