How much does the Government of Jersey pay annually in subsidies to Victoria College and Jersey College for Girls? Please confirm the figures for the years 2019 to 2024.

Please advise if any additional funding was allocated to these schools (and any other private schools in Jersey) during the Covid-19 pandemic to help with any financial pressures that might have arisen over this period.

Do private schools pay VAT in Jersey?

Has the Government of Jersey helped to fund any new facilities for private schools in Jersey over the last five years (for example, the loan for Beaulieu Convent Catholic School's new sports complex)? Please list all of these projects and how much was spent on each.

Please see Table 1 of the attached. The 2024 figure is year to date; therefore, this figure may increase.

By “Subsidies” it is assumed that it is meant the budget received from the Government of Jersey. In addition, please note:
- Jersey Property Holdings provides these schools with Landlord Services
- The Modernisation and Digital department provides IT Technical Support
- Human Resources and Finance support is provided centrally
- Children, Young People, Education and Skills ‘CYPES’ provides additional resources for specialist support, for example: Educational Psychology, Music Services and Inclusion support.

Please note that COVID19 costs for both 2020 and 2021 were allocated in one lump sum to the two schools as detailed below. No additional funding was allocated for COVID19 in 2024.

Please see the information below extract of a Written Question to the Minister of Treasury and Resources: WQ: 258/2024 (tabled 16/7/24) in relation to Beaulieu Convent Catholic School. This is the only arrangement with a private school.
(b) On inception of the 2019 loan the outstanding loan balance of £293,488 owed by the school was incorporated into the new loan.
(c) In line with P.26-2019, capital repayments on the 2019 loan are only due on completion of the full project, once the final drawdown on the loan facility is made.
