Request
A
How many people in Jersey were affected by the blood transfusion scandal?
B
How many of the transfusions lead to the death of the patient?
Response
Health and Community Services are aware of 13 patients who were affected by contaminated pooled blood products. Transfusion-related infection is not documented as a cause of death in those that have passed away.
It will only be possible to ascertain if infection has occurred as a result of non-pooled blood products going forwards. Article 3 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 applies in this respect.
