I would like to know whether the number of vehicles on the road in Jersey is increasing or decreasing and whether it has increased or decreased from 2006 to 2016 (last 10 years).
I am looking for a total vehicles that could be driven on the road per year, rather than a detailed list of each vehicle (there is a detailed list on the FOI site for 2016). If you have the breakdown by vehicle type eg car, van, heavy goods, that would be great.
Response
The information that you have requested has already been provided in a previous FOI request:
View Number of vehicles registered in Jersey (FOI)
This gives a breakdown of vehicles held on the vehicle register as at close of business on 31 December each year from 2005 to 2014. This information is, therefore, exempt under Article 23 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 as it is accessible by other means.
Details of vehicles held on the register as at close of business on 31 December 2015 are provided below.
Please note that this is the total number that were on the vehicle register at that point. It does not reflect the number of vehicles actually on the road (failure to notify of scrapped or exported, etc).
