Request
Hello, Amazin Maze received at tourism development grant of £300,000 in 2014:
https://www.gov.je/Government/PlanningPerformance/Pages/MinisterialDecisions.aspx?docid=4025D551-C328-4D81-9D11-17B909FF7B23
I would like to see the paper work related to that grant and, in particular, whether it included any conditions? Was there a 10-year operating requirement?
Was the government ever informed how this money was spent and whether any of it was spent on the K9 Wellness Centre?
Response
The Grant agreement was signed off on 30th September 2014. It was provided solely to purchase indoor equipment for the project and to procure associated new customer service facilities.
It was a condition of the agreement that the facility would continue to operate as a tourist attraction for a minimum of 5 years following completion.
The money was to be spent as follows:
Soft play equipment, Imagination Street, Sensory room, Buggy/shoe store, Air Cannon Compressor.
Supporting facilities were as follows;
Office equipment, Computers/Entry equipment, Ticketing software, Tills, Reception desk, Seating and tables, Catering equipment, Shop fixtures and fittings, Signage.
The building (currently being used by K9 Wellness Centre) was converted in 2005, and originally used for crafts in relation to the park. It has no connection with the grant in 2014 which was specifically for indoor playbarn equipment in an adjacent purpose-built building.
