Please release to me, under the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011, the following information:

How much public money has the Government of Jersey spent – in each financial year since 2018 – on representing and communicating the Government’s views concerning the United Kingdom’s 2018 Sanctions and Anti-Money Laundering Act, which requires the implementation of a public register of company ownership in Jersey, to:

a) The United Kingdom government

b) Political parties in the United Kingdom

c) Any other public or private bodies or organisations in the United Kingdom

Response

Engagement on UK developments, including that on public registers of beneficial ownership is part of the Department’s ordinary workload. The Department does not time record and any engagement with the UK will generally be on multiple issues. Therefore, this information is not held by the Government. Therefore Article 3 of the freedom of Information Jersey (Law) 2011 has been applied.

For the purposes of this Law, information is held by a public authority if –

(a)     it is held by the authority, otherwise than on behalf of another person; or

(b)     it is held by another person on behalf of the authority.​
