Falls at hospital since 2019 (FOI)

I am submitting a Freedom of Information request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. Please could you provide the following information:

1. Total Falls by Hospital: The total number of inpatient falls by hospital, covering the last five years?

2. Total Falls by Ward: The total number of inpatient falls by ward, covering the last five years?

3. Contact for Falls Leads: A list of NHS email addresses for falls leads/groups within the trust or the individuals responsible for fall prevention?

4. Falls Compensation Claims: The average annual compensation paid out by the trust in relation to inpatient falls over the past five years?

5. Absconded Patients by Ward: The number of inpatients who absconded from wards (defined as leaving without informing staff, resulting in a missing person status) by ward, covering the last five years?

6. Absconding Compensation Claims: The average annual compensation paid out by the trust in relation to absconding incidents over the past five years?

7. One-to-One Support for Fall Risk Patients: The average cost per patient, per day, for one-to-one support provided to patients at risk of falls?

For questions 1, 2, and 5, could you please provide the data in table format, sorted by hospital and ward, with the total number of incidents per year up to and including this year?

Table 1 attached, details the total number of falls which have occurred across Health and Community Services (HCS) over the last 5 years, broken down by the ward, unit or area where the fall occurred. Data is supplied for the period 2020 to 2024 (to October 2024).

There is no single designated point of contact in Health and Community Services. Government of Jersey employees below Tiers 1 and 2 are protected from identification for the purposes of Freedom of Information disclosure, and therefore, Article 25 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 has been applied.

No compensation has been paid for inpatient falls over the past five years.

Table 2 details the total number of inpatients who absconded from HCS wards each year of the last 5 years. Data is supplied for the period 2020 to 2024 (to October 2024).

Owing to small numbers, Article 25 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 has been applied to protect the personal information of individuals, and it is not possible to provide an average compensation payment amount.

Based on a Grade NM01.4, and taking into account variables for weekdays versus weekends, average costs of care are £655 per 24 hours (inclusive of social security and pension payments (pension not payable for Bank shifts)).

(b) its supply to a member of the public would contravene any of the data protection ​
