Request
Please advise how many recorded sexual offences there have been against children aged under 18, broken down by offence along with the age and gender of victims from 1 April 2023 to 31 March 2024. Please provide a list of the offenses that were used to calculate the total.
Response
The number of sexual offences against children aged under 18 recorded by States of Jersey Police between from 1 April 2023 to 31 March 2024 are shown on the attached table.
Table 1.pdf
Information is broken down by offence and gender along with the age of victims.
Please note victims reporting historic offences may not be able to recall exact incident dates or only approximate date ranges. In these cases, the youngest age of the possible range is recorded. In addition, an individual’s gender identity may differ from the one assigned at birth and is therefore reflected in the gender column they identify with at the time of reporting.
Where numbers are fewer than five, disclosure control is applied to avoid identification of individuals. Article 25(2) of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 has been applied.
Articles applied

(a) it constitutes personal data of which the applicant is not the data subject as defined in the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018; and
(b) its supply to a member of the public would contravene any of the data protection principles, as defined in that Law.
