Summary
This plan sets out the responsibilities of the different sections of the Education Department and the strategic direction for the next four years. The department's work will be focussed in four key areas and the plan includes an action plan with targets under each of these headings. The key priorities are:
Standards: Results in all areas should be better than Jersey's statistical neighbours;
Curriculum: There should be a framework that enables creative teaching and reflects Jersey culture and history;
Families: We aim to help our children succeed by supporting their whole family if necessary;
Autonomy: We will investigate whether schools can have greater freedom in certain areas so that they can focus their resources on students.
