The Business Tendency Survey is a quarterly survey providing timely, qualitative information about the Island’s economy.
It gauges the opinions of local businesses on business activity, employment levels and the economy as a whole.
The survey covers private sector businesses in Jersey, and asks chief executives or managing directors for their opinions on the current situation of their business compared to three months previously, and also for their expectations for the next three months.
In June 2015, the headline all-sector Business Activity Indicator was 20 percentage points (pp), implying that the proportion of businesses in Jersey reporting an increase in business activity compared with three months previously was 20 pp greater than the proportion reporting a decrease.
The June 2015 report also includes an additional section on the future expectations of the finance sector for employment, profit and business development.
Expectations are reported overall and for the individual finance sub-sectors:
- accountancy
- banking
- fund management
- legal
- trust and company administration
