Summary
The report was commissioned in response to a proposal put forward by the Société Jersiaise in November 2007, proposing World Heritage Site status for the Channel Islands. Overall the conclusions of this report are that the Islands have a rich and diverse heritage, which makes an important contribution to their identity and to the quality of life. The report also notes that the fortifications of the Channel Islands represent a very significant group, and that there may be some potential in putting them forward for inclusion on the UK Tentative List, as and when it is revised. It states that would require a joint approach between the Sociétés of the Channel Islands.
