Summary
Summary:
The report summarises the information given to the Fisheries and Marine Department by the Jersey commercial fleet in logbook landing returns. It indicates that although crustacean pot numbers fell in 2009, the tonnage of lobster caught peaked at 176 tonnes, the highest ever tonnage recorded, while crab landings dipped to a substantially lower level than in 2008. Total shellfish landings were down by 19% but due to increased attention towards the higher value species, it resulted in an overall 2.3% increase in the value of the shellfish landed.
