Summary
The Retail Sales Survey was launched in April 2007 and collects information on the performance of the Island's retail sector on a quarterly basis. It provides an early short term measure of economic activity in Jersey.
The Retail Sales Survey for Quarter 2 (Q2) 2010 shows that:
- the seasonally adjusted volume of retail sales in Q2 2010 was almost the same as a year previously
- the decrease in volume of 0.2% represents the smallest annual fall for almost 2 years
- the volume of retail sales in predominantly food stores in Q2 2010 was 5% higher than in the corresponding quarter of 2009
- the volume of retail sales in predominantly non-food stores in Q2 2010 was 3% lower than the corresponding quarter of 2009
