Summary
Health Protection has monitored Air Quality in Jersey since 1994. This monitoring involves Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2), Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) and prior to 2002 Sulphur Dioxide (SO2) via diffusion tubes. The reports from 1998 to 2005 for these surveys can be found at www.gov.je. In 1999 and 2002 two Turnkey Osiris particle measurement units were purchased which allowed real time particles measurement (PM10). This type of measurement ie laser particle measurement has not been certified as ‘equivalent’ method as detailed in the Local Air Quality Management Technical Guidance LAQM.TG(03) 9 a and therefore the data produced allows for screening rather than a detailed assessment.
