This report examines different technologies that could act as alternatives or compliment Jersey's current electricity mix. The authors assess maturity, economic viability and timeframe and consider whether they could contribute to Jersey's carbon neutral ambitions.

The report evaluates the role of the following technologies in decarbonising transport and heating:

• biogas and biomethane
• liquid biofuels
• hydrogen

The authors examine the feasibility from a global perspective. All the energy sources assessed as well established. However, they are not always commercially competitive with fossil fuels and their supply chains are not well-developed.
