Summary
The registered unemployment report for July 2011 has been released by the Statistics Unit
The July 2011 report shows that:
- on a seasonally adjusted basis, the total number of people registered as unemployed and actively seeking work (ASW) in Jersey was 20 higher than a month earlier (June 2011) and 30 lower than the average for the preceding 3 months
- the non-seasonally adjusted ASW total was 1,350. This latest monthly total is 70 higher than that of a month earlier (June 2011) and 110 higher than that of a year earlier (July 2010)
- long-term unemployment (registered for more than 52 weeks) has doubled during the last 12 months and now accounts for almost 1 in 5 of the ASW total
- 300 teenagers aged 16-19 years were registered as ASW, some 20 more than in the previous month. 130 teenagers were on the Advance to Work scheme
