A primary function of the Jersey Appointments Commission in overseeing the recruitment of States employees, as well as appointees to States supported or related bodies, is to ensure that the selection is fair, efficient and conducted in accordance with best practice and procedures.
In addition to its general Recruitment Code, the commission has produced the Jersey Appointments Commission Guidance on Senior Recruitment to provide processes for making senior appointments in the public service. The guide describes the role of the Jersey Appointments Commission in the recruitment and selection procedures for senior appointments and sets out the membership of appointment panels. This code covers:
- involvement of the Appointments Commission
- confidentiality, conflict and equality
- selection panels
- the recruitment process
- long and short-listing
- the final interview
- board proceedings
- post interview procedures and report
- exceptions to the recruitment principles
- recruitment process chart
- members and officers of the Jersey Appointments Commission
The commission has been in existence since 2002 and has a Chairman and 4 other Commissioners.
