Summary
The August report published by the Statistics Unit shows that:
- on a seasonally adjusted basis, the total number of people registered as unemployed and actively seeking work (ASW) in Jersey was 40 lower than a month earlier (July 2012) and 60 lower than the average for the preceding three months
- the non-seasonally adjusted ASW total was 1,670. This latest monthly total is 70 lower than a month earlier (July 2012) and 330 higher than that of a year earlier (August 2011). It is 380 higher than that of two years earlier (August 2010)
- long-term unemployment (registered for more than 52 weeks) now accounts for a sixth of total ASW
- 330 teenagers aged 16-19 years were registered as ASW, remaining at the same level as a month earlier. 130 teenagers were on the Advance to Work scheme
