Summary
The background to the creation of Independent Safeguarding and Standards, and a definition of the agency's service provision.
It was established, following the 2007 Williamson review of Jersey's child protection processes, to:
- ensure that children who are 'looked after' by the States have their needs met (including their safety and protection), and those needs are regularly reviewed
- ensure the safety and welfare of the most vulnerable children and young people living in the community considered to be at risk of significant hard
- handle issues, disputes or complaints arising from the way individuals or agencies are managing the welfare of children
