Summary
Between 11 and 15 February 2013, a team from Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Prisons carried out an announced inspection of Jersey's prison. All Inspectorate of Prisons reports carry a summary of the conditions and treatment of prisoners, based on the four tests of a healthy prison. The criteria are:
- safety - prisoners, particularly the most vulnerable, are held safely
- respect - prisoners are treated with respect for their human dignity
- purposeful activity - prisoners are able, and expected, to engage in activity that is likely to benefit them
- resettlement- prisoners are prepared for their release into the community and effectively helped to reduce the likelihood of reoffending
The report measures La Moye against these four criteria and also contains a number of recommendations, housekeeping points and good practice comments.
