Summary
AEA was commissioned by Health Protection Services of the States of Jersey Government to provide an independent review of air quality issues in Jersey.
This air quality report addresses the following main topics:
- section 1: an overview of the current air quality issues on Jersey leading up to recommendations of the air quality review 2008
- section 2: a brief overview of statistics for Jersey including transportation, energy use and meteorological factors affecting air quality on the Island
- section 3: an overview of the current air quality legislative framework relating to air quality on Jersey;
- ection 4: a summary of air quality monitoring undertaken on Jersey to date
- section 5: a review of air quality legislation (UK and international) and international air quality agreements
- section 6: recommendations on the way forward in developing the States' air quality legislative framework
- section 7: an overview of the identification of key pollutants and relevant sources including recommendations for implementing an EU-compliant monitoring strategy
- section 8: an assessment of the cumulative impacts of new development in St Helier
- section 9: final conclusions
