Summary
The PECRS 2012 annual report outlines the activities of the pension scheme over the last year. The report highlights that:
- during the year the investments of the scheme increased by £121 million to be valued at £1.37 billion at the end of the year
- the fund achieved an investment return of 11.1% over the year outperforming its benchmark which increased by 8.5%
- scheme membership continued to grow partly as a result of increasing longevity and by the end of 2012 the scheme had 13,250 members of which 56% were active members, 30% pensioners and 14% deferred members
- administration of the scheme has continued to improve with 87% of administration tasks were completed within target
- further improvements have been made to the accessibility of scheme information with the establishment of a website
