Summary
The November 2011 report for registered unemployment:
- on a seasonally adjusted basis, the total number of people registered as unemployed and actively seeking work (ASW) in Jersey was marginally higher than a month earlier (October 2011) and 90 higher than the average for the preceding 3 months
- the non-seasonally adjusted ASW total was 1,530; this latest monthly total is 30 higher than a month earlier (October 2011), 220 higher than that of a year earlier (November 2010) and 440 higher than that of 2 years earlier (November 2009)
- long-term unemployment (registered for more than 52 weeks) has more than doubled during the last 12 months and now accounts for 1 in 6 of the ASW total
- 260 teenagers aged 16-19 years were registered as ASW; of these, 120 were on the Advance to Work scheme.
