Summary
There were 1,820 people registered as actively seeking work (ASW) in November 2012.
The November report published by the Statistics Unit shows that:
- on a seasonally adjusted basis, the total number of people registered as actively seeking work (ASW) in Jersey was 80 higher than a month earlier (October 2012), representing the largest monthly increase since March 2012. This is 110 higher than the average for the preceding three months and the highest level recorded to date
- the non-seasonally adjusted ASW total was 1,820. This latest monthly total is 100 higher than a month earlier (October 2012) and 290 higher than that of a year earlier (November 2011)
- long-term unemployment (registered for more than 52 weeks) now accounts for around a sixth of total ASW
- 320 teenagers aged 16-19 years were registered as ASW, 30 lower than a month earlier. 120 teenagers were on the Advance to Work scheme
