Summary
There were 2,020 people registered as actively seeking work (ASW) in January 2013.
The latest report also shows that on 31 January 2013:
- both the seasonally adjusted and non-seasonally adjusted number of people registered as actively seeking work (ASW) in Jersey were at the highest level recorded to date
- on a seasonally adjusted basis, the total number of people registered as actively seeking work in Jersey was 70 higher than a month earlier (December 2012); 130 higher than the average for the preceding three months
- the non-seasonally adjusted ASW total was 2,020. This latest monthly total is 180 higher than a month earlier (December 2012) and 320 higher than that of a year earlier (January 2012)
- long-term unemployment (registered for more than 52 weeks) now accounts for a sixth of total ASW
- 320 teenagers aged 16-19 years were registered as ASW. 110 teenagers were on the Advance to Work scheme
