Summary
In May, 1,880 people were registered as actively seeking work (ASW) in Jersey.
The May 2013 report shows that:
- on a seasonally adjusted basis, the total number of people registered as actively seeking work in Jersey was 20 higher than a month earlier (April 2013) and at a similar level to the average for the preceding three months
- the non-seasonally adjusted ASW total was 1,880. This latest monthly total is 50 lower than a month earlier (April 2013). It was 160 higher than that of a year earlier (May 2012) and more than double that of four years ago (May 2009)
- long-term registered ASW (registered for more than 12 months) accounted for a fifth of total ASW and remained at the highest level recorded
- 250 teenagers aged 16-19 years were registered as ASW, a similar level to that seen in the previous month. 110 teenagers were on the Advance to Work scheme
