KENSINGTON PLACE TRAFFIC CALMING SCHEME
TEMPORARY AMENDMENT TO ON-STREET PARKING AND LOADING
UNDER ARTICLE 68 OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC LAW
Purpose of the report
To amend the Road Traffic (St.Helier) (Jersey) Order 1996 under Article 68 of the Road Traffic (Jersey) Law, 1956 to accommodate changes to on-street parking and loading in Kensington Place.
Background
As part of the Urban Task Force Programme for improvements, changes have been made to parking and loading provisions in Kensington Place.
Discussion
Article 68 of the Road Traffic (Jersey) Law 1956 enables changes to Traffic Orders to be made, for a period of up to 12 months, without waiting for the relatively lengthy process of amending Orders to be completed. During the 12 month period an amendment to the Order will be drafted, for subsequent approval by the Minister.
The details of the changes for Kensington Place are described in the attached draft “Article 68 Notice”
The Connétable of St Helier has been consulted.
Recommendation
The Minister is recommended to approve the Notice, to come into effect on Monday 18th December 2006.
Reason for Decision
To make changes to on-street parking and loading provisions in Kensington Place, St. Helier.
