Who we are
Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) is a mental health service that supports children and young people up to the age of 18.
We work with young people and families to:
- support young people with their mental health and emotional wellbeing
- allow the opportunity for young people to explore and learn about their brains and neurodiversity
- provide assistance to siblings, parents and carers of young people who may be experiencing mental health difficulties
We offer assessment, diagnosis and support for:
- emotional difficulties
- behavioural difficulties
- relationship difficulties
- developmental difficulties
- other mental health disorders
We want to make sure:
- everyone knows where to get support
- everyone who asks, gets support quickly
- we proactively promote positive health and wellbeing
- the support people get is based on treatments that work
- everyone is listened to and involved in decisions that affect them
We want a society where children and young people enjoy a happy, confident childhood, thrive, achieve their potential and grow into adults who can cope with the demands of daily life.
Read our young person’s guide to CAMHS and see our visual statement of purpose.
Our vision is outlined in the Emotional Wellbeing and Mental Health Strategy 2022 to 2025.
