Before you travel
If you're leaving permanently, travelling or working abroad our checklist will help you plan.
If you pay tax
You'll need to file a tax return that covers the period up to the date your leave Jersey. You may also need to continue completing Jersey tax returns if you still have some types of Jersey income, for example if you have property income.
If you owe tax including any prior year 2019 deferred tax and you are leaving Jersey, this must be paid or you can't pay it, you must make a time to pay arrangement.

If you get a Jersey pension
We have various tax agreements that mean you only pay tax in the country that you live (are resident) in. You will need to get approval from Revenue Jersey to have the pension paid without deduction of tax. This does not apply to the Jersey Social Security pension which is not taxable in Jersey if you have permanently left.
