The Policy and Resources Committee announces the appointment of Howard Le Cornu to the post of Chief Executive/Harbourmaster of Jersey Harbours. Capt Le Cornu has been the Acting Chief Executive since May 2005 and his appointment is effective immediately.
The appointment was agreed after a full competence-based assessment overseen by the Appointments Commission. Capt Le Cornu impressed the panel which was chaired by Mike Liston and included the President of the Harbours and Airport Committee, the Chief Executive of Policy and Resources and an independent assessor.
Senator Len Norman, Harbours and Airport Committee President, said: “Howard has done an excellent job as Acting Chief Executive and now takes responsibility for building on the momentum and motivation developed over the last year, leading the implementation of the business plan to deliver a modern successful and commercial port authority. I wish him all the best in steering the organisation through the significant changes ahead.”
Under the change to ministerial government, Jersey Harbours will become part of the Economic Development Ministry. A Jersey Harbours Executive Board will be established which will ensure that commercial developments are taken forward successfully.
