Customer Services Centre now open

10 April 2006

States Customer Services Centre opens in Cyril Le Marquand House
The new States Customer Services Centre (CSC) at Cyril Le Marquand House has opened for business following completion of the first stage of development.

Visitors to the ground floor of Cyril Le Marquand House won’t recognise the old lobby area. The old reception desk and the former offices of Regulation and Undertakings have been replaced by a purpose-built area for the Customer Services Centre team and a new Information Desk.

The Customer Services Centre is open to visitors between 9 am and 5 pm and answers calls between 8.30 am and 5.30 pm. It will provide a single point of contact for the majority of public queries. People wanting information or advice about States service can get it from trained staff in person, on the phone, by email, or by post (see below for contact details). People can also use the States website www.gov.je free of charge. Services available at the Customer Services Centre will grow over the coming year.

Chief Executive to the Council of Ministers, Bill Ogley, said ‘The completion of the first stage of the Customer Services Centre is one of a number of front line service improvements across the public sector, including the States website www.gov.je and the phased introduction of a single, States-wide telephone system. Once these have been completed, they should result in a leap forward in the speed and ease with which the public can get the information or answers they need. Except on rare occasions, people with routine inquiries should no longer have to deal with a number of different people – it should be a one stop shop. And behind the scenes, these changes are enabling us to make the best use of public money by stopping duplication and all doing things in the same way.’

New arrangements for contacting the Housing Department now in place
The Customer Services Centre is also the front desk for Housing Department services, which have moved from their present location at Jubilee Wharf. All the existing services provided by the Housing Department front desk are now available at the Customer Services Centre. The Population Office (including Housing Control) and Regulation of Undertakings remain at Jubilee Wharf. From this date all Housing Department, Population Office (including Housing Control) and Regulation of Undertakings numbers have also changed, following the next stage of the upgrade to the public sector telephone system:

Housing Department 445510
Housing Maintenance 445570
Housing Law 448905
Regulation of Undertakings Law 448930

For a limited period, calls to these four main numbers are being diverted to the new numbers at no cost to the caller. Calls to all other old Housing Department or Population Office (including the Housing Law) or Regulation of Undertakings numbers are not being diverted. The caller will hear a recorded message giving them the new telephone number. They will be charged for the call and they will have to redial the new number to get the service they need.
