The Social Security Minister has a
pproved the codes of practice which will support the Employment Relations (
Jersey
) Law 2007. These
describe good and reasonable employment relations practice
.
The codes deal with –
The Recognition of Trade Unions
Balloting and Conduct in Employment Disputes
Resolving Collective Disputes
A great deal of consultation has been undertaken on the content of the Law and the codes of practice over the past six years. For the final stage of consultation before approving the codes, the Minister followed the procedure set out in the Law - inviting representations from persons who might be affected by the codes, plus consultation with the Jersey Advisory and Conciliation Service, the Employment Forum, and the Chief Minister’s Office regarding international obligations.
Social Security Minister,
Paul Routier
said: “The final round of consultation has resulted in some significant improvements to the codes which will both meet our policy intent and balance the interests of those who will be affected.”
