Businesses in Jersey that are actively involved in the reduction, re-use and recycling of waste can now apply for permission to use the States of Jersey Recycling Logo. More than 60% of waste produced in the island comes from local companies.
The logo, which was updated last year, features a graphic of the island on a mobius loop. It represents a call to action and should urge consumers to recycle and change their behaviour. The Jersey Recycle Logo should be used to identify recycling facilities, recycled materials and products, as well as goods and services which adhere to the waste hierarchy (Reduce, Re-use, Recycle).
The logo could be used by businesses to show customers that waste prevention and recycling has been involved in the development of products and services. Examples of where it could be used include letterheads and advertising.
Transport and Technical Services Recycling Officer, John Rive says “We recognise that many companies are taking their environmental responsibilities seriously and looking at ways to reduce waste and recycle more. We want to endorse these good examples of sustainable business practice. “
Companies wishing to use the logo should contact the Recycling Team on 448586 or email recycle@gov.je A guide explaining how the logo should be used is available online at www.gov.je/recycling
