The Treasury and Resources Minister has welcomed the recommendations contained in the Fiscal Policy Panel’s update to their annual report.
Treasury Minister, Senator Le Sueur, says: “This report acts as timely reminder for Ministers and States members about what our priorities should be ahead of next month’s Budget debate.
“I’m pleased that the Panel believe that our tax and spending plans are broadly appropriate for next year. However, there is also a clear signal from the Panel that we need to be careful about what we do next. They have made it clear that we need to wait and see the extent of the economic slowdown and the strength of our underlying fiscal position before altering our tax or spending plans.”
