Following discussions between the Economic Development Minister, EDD officers, representatives of the Jersey Hospitality Association and members of the tourism industry, the Minister has approved a recommendation to reinstate Jersey Tourism’s U.K. advertising campaign.
Jersey Tourism will be reviewing the remainder of the campaign this week in light of the sensitive nature of current events, looking at tactical, creative options to take the campaign forward, with the full support of industry representatives. The campaign was suspended two weeks ago following intense media coverage of the Haut de la Garenne police investigation.
Senator Ozouf said “Following thorough consultation, which included the industry task force, I have agreed that Jersey Tourism should reinstate the campaign and prepare a programme of additional promotional activity. Industry feedback reflects a down turn of around ten percent on forward bookings and enquiries over the last two weeks, compared with a similar period last year. This concurs with an omnibus survey commissioned by Jersey Tourism, conducted in the U.K. over the weekend, to ascertain reactions to the Haut de la Garenne media coverage.”
The commencement of the new Easy Jet service to Jersey from Luton on 20th March and Liverpool on the 31st March will be the focus of the re commencement of the campaign this weekend.
