Owen Wiscombe MBE, who sadly died on Sunday 31 August, was much loved, admired and greatly respected by all who had the pleasure of working with him in the States of Jersey, and in particular in the Social Security Department for the last 24 years.
Owen was the HM Forces Support and Welfare Officer, managing HM Forces Disablement and War Widows Pensions in the Channel Islands, on behalf of the UK Service Personnel and Veterans Agency. Owen always went above and beyond for his clients, investing a great deal of his time and energies in their welfare and their lives.
I'm sure his clients will miss Owen and the Island will miss one of its pillars of the community and the contributions he made to Island life. To we who worked with him, Owen is simply irreplaceable.
Our thoughts are with Owen’s wife Liz and their families.
