Road Resurfacing at Le Mont Fallu

30 October 2008

Transport and Technical Services will be undertaking essential road maintenance starting next Tuesday 4 November on Le Mont Fallu in St Peter’s. The hill will be closed to traffic for approximately five weeks between 9 am and 6 pm. The road will be open outside working hours.

Le Mont Fallu is in poor condition, particularly at the top of the hill and strengthening work will have to be undertaken as well as road resurfacing. The project cost is just over £200,000.

No specific diversions will be posted, but drivers are asked to seek alternative routes as the road will be closed to through traffic. Access to premises can be arranged with the site supervisor. Work will start at the St Peter’s Valley end and progress uphill. Access to premises will initially be via La Route de Beaumont.

“This is a well used road, which is in particularly poor condition in some places,” said Deputy Guy de Faye, Minister for Transport and Technical Services. “It is important that roads like these aren’t allowed to deteriorate further and become far more costly to rectify.”
