Seven school bus services operating in the morning taking children to Jersey College for Girls, Victoria College, Hautlieu, De La Salle, Beaulieu and FCJ have been brought forward by 10 minutes to ensure pupils reach school in time for lessons to start. Transport and Technical Services (TTS), together with the school bus operator Connex, has been assessing the operation of the school buses since the beginning of the school term 4 weeks ago and these services have regularly been arriving late at schools. So from next Monday, 6 October 2008, routes 770 (from Pontinfer), 772 (from St Peters Village), 773 (from L’Etacq), 774 (from Corbiere), 775 (from Mont Nicolle), 780 (from Devil’s Hole) and 781 (from Les Fontaines) will start their morning journeys 10 minutes earlier.
Caroline Anderson, Director of Transport at TTS said “It is not unusual to have to slightly amend school bus schedules after the beginning of a school year. Connex and TTS monitor the first few weeks to assess whether there is a permanent issue with timing or just a temporary one and, if the former, we try to adjust the timing so the children will get to school on time. All the relevant schools have been informed and notices placed on the buses so I hope all passengers will be at their stops 10 minutes earlier on Monday morning.”
The TTS website (
www.gov.je/schoolbus) has the updated timings and Connex information staff will be able to advise on telephone number 877772.
