Specialist contractors working on behalf of Transport and Technical Services (TTS) will be carrying out site investigation works in and around the
Gas Place
and Talman car parks starting on Monday 29 September for a two week period. This work will cause some disruption to car park and road users.
Most of the work will be carried out inside the Talman and
Gas Place
car parks. However, some boreholes will be drilled in the surrounding roads and footpaths. The location of the investigation will move during the fortnight of works. Some public parking spaces will be taken out of use, but this should be no more than 23 at any one time. Work will generally take place from
8.30am
to
6pm
Monday to Friday, although there may also be a need for some Saturday working. There will also be some minor road closures and traffic restrictions which will take place from
9.30am
to
4pm
to avoid peak traffic periods.
The Talman and
Gas Place
car parks are planned to be redeveloped to form the
Millennium Town Park in 2011. As the two car parks were formerly part of St Helier Gasworks, the condition of the ground in and around the site needs to be investigated.
The areas where the work is being carried out will be screened off to ensure public safety. Traffic signage will redirect pedestrians and traffic where necessary.
