18 March 2008
From Noon on Tuesday 18 March, the first lay-by on Victoria Avenue, nearest to town, that had been closed due to storm damage will be reopened for parking. Unfortunately, there will be less parking available until all the repair work has been undertaken. It is important that drivers park within the marked bays only.
Changes have had to be made to the parking layout due to the reduction in available space. The cycle track has had to be moved away from the collapsed sea wall and into the back of the two lay-bys nearest to town on Victoria Avenue.
In the nearest lay-by to town parking will be restricted to 53 out of 73 spaces until this section of wall has been repaired. It is expected that the work here will be completed in two to three weeks and then the car park can go back to normal use.
The second lay-by will remain closed for the moment but it is hoped that it will also reopen shortly with reduced parking.
