At the 2008 London Boat Show, January 11th – 20th, one of the biggest crowd pullers will be the ‘Anchor Watch’ feature. A great success with the crowds at last year’s show, this year’s has been sponsored by the Economic Development department and Blue Water Supplies.
Anchor Watch comprises the hull of a ship, from which anchors can be launched into a runway of sand below in order for the experienced instructors to demonstrate their master-classes in laying anchors, and resolving common problems both beginners and experienced sailors come across. The demonstrations will take place five or six times a day throughout the show with public announcements made each time.
The instructors will be demonstrating with SPADE anchors – a design for which Jersey company Blue Water Supplies is the sole distributor in the UK.. The anchors are a unique design, made to always hit the sea bed at the optimum angle, then dig in – achieving the maximum boat stopping power, despite being very light.

Blue Water Supplies is a leading long distance sailing equipment specialist, able to source and supply equipment including: Swiss Tech, Storm-Bag, Kiss Energy and are UK dealers for Katadyn, Sea Recovery and MiniB. Together with local pharmacist Ian Hardy, they manufacture the CrewMedic and SeaMedic ranges of marine first aid and medical kits in Jersey.
