Award winning Jet2.com, the North of England’s leading low cost airline, plans to extend its services from Jersey with the launch of a new route direct to Belfast. The twice weekly summer service on Wednesdays and Saturdays will begin on 23 May 2009 and will fly direct between Jersey and Belfast International Airport.
The service will provide Islanders with a new link to the bustling and vibrant city of Belfast, which was voted 2nd Favourite UK City in the Observer and Guardian Unlimited Travel Awards 2007 and a ‘must-see’ destination by Lonely Planet.
As well as offering a wealth of tourist attractions and activities, the city also provides an excellent base from which to visit the beautiful countryside of Northern Ireland, including the spectacular Giant’s Causeway in North Antrim as well as the beautiful coast at Portrush and Portstewart.
Announcing the launch of the new route, Chairman of Jet2.com, Philip Meeson, commented, “We are dedicated to providing our customers with even more choice when it comes to short breaks. We now offer two great services from Jersey to the fantastic cities of Leeds and Belfast, meaning that even more people can choose to take advantage of our great value fares and leading customer service”.
Assistant Minister for Economic Development, Deputy Alan Maclean, who has specific responsibility for Jersey Airport is equally delighted with the announcement and said, “It is encouraging to hear that Jet2.com, who have only recently commenced services from the Island are already showing their commitment and confidence in Jersey by launching this second route. We know that Belfast is a buoyant market and hope that passenger numbers will reflect the confidence in this new route, which may eventually see a year-round service”.
One way fares start from as little as £29.99, including taxes. Reservations can now be made online at www.jet2.com or via the call centre on 0871 226 1737
