Work on behalf of Transport and Technical Services (TTS) is being carried out on Mount Bingham for about 7 days, starting on Monday 5 October. The section of Mount Bingham affected by the works is between La Collette and the junction with Pier Road / South Hill. During the works this section of the hill will be closed to westbound (downhill) traffic. Westbound vehicular traffic should use Pier Road or the Tunnel. Eastbound (uphill) traffic will be allowed to continue as normal.
Pedestrian routes will not be affected by these works and cyclists will be allowed to walk their bikes down the hill using the existing footpath. Access to Pier Road car park and Fort Regent will also not be affected.
The hours of work will be 7.30am to 7pm. Due to the nature of the work involved and to minimise the number of days the traffic restrictions are in place, it will not be possible to allow normal traffic movement outside of these hours.
The work is required as part of the upgrade to the La Collette sewage pumping station and rising main. This section of work will connect the works being undertaken at La Collette to the recent works in Pier Road. Brenwal Limited will be carrying this work on behalf of TTS.
Any inconvenience caused by these roadworks is regretted and the Contractors and TTS staff will make every effort to minimise the disruption and noise.
