The Ambassador of the People’s Republic of
China
to the Court of St James is visiting
Jersey
to enhance economic, trade and cultural links with the island.
Her Excellency Madam Fu Ying will be accompanied by the Minister-Counsellor for Trade, Madam Jiang Fan, Counsellor Mr He Jun and First Secretary Dr Xu Qingjun.
The delegation arrives in
Jersey
on 5 November for a programme of visits aimed at familiarising the Ambassador with the island’s agriculture, tourism and finance sectors. They are due to visit the Occupation Tapestry and a farm with a mix of dairy cows and early potatoes. They will also be taking part in economic discussions with representatives from government and industry.
Jersey Finance has recently opened an office in Hong Kong to help promote Jersey as an international finance centre in the Asia Pacific region, and to enable the island’s finance industry to develop its contacts with leading financial intermediaries, regulators and Government officials in Hong Kong and mainland China. Earlier this month it was announced that Jersey companies have been approved for listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
The Chinese delegation will leave Jersey on Friday 6 November for an official visit to Guernsey.
