06 April 2009
Wendy Martin, an experienced chartered accountant and chartered tax adviser has been appointed as the States of Jersey Director of International Tax. She took up her post on 16 March 2009.
In the light of a number of recent tax initiatives arising in other jurisdictions and the greater focus on international tax competition that will follow from the G20 summit it is clear that there is a need for a full time senior tax professional able to consider Jersey’s international tax position.
In this new role, Wendy will be working to raise Jersey's profile as a well regulated and transparent international finance centre; she will monitor global tax developments and seek to identify those responses most likely to ensure Jersey's continued long term economic success.
Liaising with industry groups on international tax matters and providing technical input to tax policy will be an important part of this position as will the identification and development of opportunities for tax revenue growth.
