Statement from the Chief Minister, Senator Terry Le Sueur on Wednesday 15 April 2009:
It is with regret that I have accepted the resignation of Senator Jim Perchard as Minister for Health and Social Services.
Senator Perchard has been an excellent Minister during his four months in office, and has imbued his Department with fresh enthusiasm and drive. He has shown tremendous personal commitment to all aspects of Health and Social Services, as evidenced by the list of activities he set out in his letter of resignation, received this morning.
I shall be formally announcing his resignation to the next sitting of the States on Tuesday 21 April, and putting forward my nomination for a new Minister, to the States, on Tuesday 28 April.
At this stage I have no further comment to make.
