Labour Market
Public sector employment is compiled by the States of Jersey Treasury; private sector employment is reported as a requirement of the Regulation of Undertakings and Development Law (RUDL).
- In December 2008, 53,540 people were employed in Jersey.
- This total represents an increase of 560 on the previous December.
- 88% of the total were employed in the private sector.
- 670 people were registered with Social Security as unemployed in Jersey in December 2008.
- In December 2008 about 46,890 were employed in the private sector.
